Hi. I read your posting. My friend and I are road trippers, patronizers of small town bars, and always looking for steel tip. However, we live in Colorado, hence outside of the major metro regions of this state and those around it, steel sip boards are rare.

Anyway, you've found some good places to shoot. If you're take a long road trip out in this neighborhood, let me know, and I'll send you to a couple of good places to shoot. Bill

Thanks for an informative post. The times I have been to Brits I've found it truly hospitable, although as you say the darts can be a bit difficult - but at least they still have them.

Increasingly I find myself in darts bars/pubs that have just removed their boards, moved them to a less accessible area or replaced them with soft tip. If you find any others in this area (or any other area) an e-mail is always appreciated.

Regards.

Brits is my local haunt, and I've played more dart there than probably anywhere. It's often tough to get the board though as one of the tables is pretty much under the board, and nobody likes to have darts thrown over their head ;-)

Food is good, beer is good, place has a good regular clientelle that's generally pretty friendly. Heck, I've kept going back for almost 4 years now.

Lucky Baldwin's took out their boards a few years back, the John Bull is long since gone, along with it's boards, and I'm not sure what the status is over at McMurphy's or Old Town Pub these days. Even Molly Malones over on Fairfax got rid of their board after "an incident" a year or so ago! Our bristleboards are a vanishing breed!

I'm glad to find sites that are trying to keep track of where we can keep throwing our sharp pointy objects while drinking beer ;-)

We play every Thursday at 7PM at Ye Olde King's Head in Santa Monica with a very mixed crowd: old, young, women, A-C level. Typically team cricket with the occasional $5 buy-in tournament. A few of the guys shoot in the Monday night SCDA league but they'll play with lesser skilled players and readily give sound advice.
The problem with SCDA is there aren't really any teams/leagues around the Hollywood area - mostly valley and westside. I started a group called LARD (LA Regional Darters) for this very reason: http://groups.myspace.com/larddarts. Feel free to join and I'll be happy to keep you posted.

Mattito

I apologize for not having gotten back to you sooner. I believe The Fox and Hounds on Ventura is a pretty friendly place for younger darts players as would be The Cat & Fiddle on Sunset (particularly if you go doing afternoon hours). Both have bars but they also have restaurants. The Buchanan Arms in Burbank often has families with young ones so I'm sure that would be another good place. Still, looking to get a tournament going but don't see that happening until fall. Check back or stay in touch for further details on that.
